The host sits with a local guide at a traditional kotatsu—a low wooden table covered by a thick blanket with an electric heater built underneath. They drink hot green tea and eat Japanese snacks while explaining how local households keep warm during winter months.
A traditional set meal featuring cold buckwheat soba noodles topped with nori seaweed, crispy jumbo shrimp tempura, and fresh tuna rice bowl (kaisendon) is served. The host uses chopsticks to dip soba noodles into savory tsuyu broth at a neighborhood restaurant.
The host relaxes in an outdoor hot spring bath (rotenburo) surrounded by wooden privacy fences and bamboo foliage at night. Steaming thermal spring water flows continually into the stone bath, offering a serene relaxation experience away from the city center.
