Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
Information we collect automatically
When you visit Travelnetic, our servers automatically receive and record some technical information about your device and visit, including:
- Your IP address, and an approximate geographic location (country, region, and city) derived from it using an offline lookup — this is not precise location tracking (no GPS or device-level location data is requested or collected), and can be inaccurate.
- Your browser and device type (user-agent string) — e.g. which browser, operating system, and whether you're on mobile or desktop.
- The page that referred you to Travelnetic, and any campaign tags (like
utm_source) present in the link you followed — this tells us which channel brought you here, not anything about you personally.
Information we collect about your activity
To personalize what you see and improve the product, we keep track of:
- Which videos you watch, and which moments within them you view.
- Moments and tours you save or add to a trip.
- Trip itineraries you generate.
- General usage events (e.g. that a video was played, a map was opened) — used in aggregate to understand product usage, not reviewed individually against your identity.
- The questions you type into the on-site AI chat assistant. We save the text of each typed question, with the video and destination it was asked on and the date, separately from your visitor cookie: no visitor ID, IP address or other identifier is stored with it, and email addresses and phone numbers are removed automatically. We read these to learn what travelers want to know and improve the product. Please don't type personal details into the chat. They are kept for 180 days, and because they aren't linked to you we can't look up or delete a particular person's questions. The chat's replies are generated by Anthropic (see below).
None of this is tied to a real name, email address, or account — see the next section.
Information creators send us
Separately from visitors, travel creators can contact us through a form on an unlisted page. If you use it, we receive and store what you type: your name, your YouTube channel link, your email address, and an optional note, plus the date and the topic you chose. We use it only to reply to you and to run the creator pilot if you take part. We don't publish it, sell it, or share it with anyone else, and we don't keep your IP address with it. To have it deleted, email us at the address below.
What we don't do
- No accounts. Travelnetic does not currently require or offer sign-up, login, passwords, or a profile tied to your real identity.
- No payment information. We never collect or store payment card details. If you book a tour through Travelnetic, that booking and payment happens entirely on Viator's platform, under Viator's own privacy policy and terms — not ours.
- We do not sell your information to third parties, and we don't share it for anyone else's advertising purposes.
Cookies
Travelnetic uses a small number of cookies, all first-party (set directly by travelnetic.tv, not by an ad network or third-party tracker):
tn_visitor— a randomly generated, anonymous identifier that lets us remember your watch history and preferences across visits on the same browser. Expires after one year of inactivity, and is renewed each time you visit.tn_internal— used internally to exclude our own team's testing traffic from usage statistics. Not used to track visitors.
Analytics cookies (optional, opt-in). We use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic and usage patterns — for example, which pages are visited and roughly how people found the site. This is off by default: nothing from Google Analytics loads or sets a cookie until you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click "Decline" (or don't respond), Google Analytics never activates. We don't use Google Analytics for advertising, and we don't enable Google's ad-related tracking (remarketing, ad personalization) at all, whether or not you accept.
Clearing your cookies, or visiting in a private/incognito window, resets your tn_visitor identifier and any history tied to it, and resets your analytics choice so the banner will ask again.
How we use this information
- To operate the site and remember your watch history, saved moments, and trip plans (including trips you name and save, up to 10) across visits.
- To personalize which tours and content are shown to you, based on what you've previously watched or shown interest in.
- To understand how Travelnetic is used overall — which features get used, which channels bring visitors, and to catch problems — so we can improve the product.
- To distinguish real visitors from our own testing and from automated bots/crawlers.
Third-party services we use
Some features rely on outside services, each of which processes limited data as part of providing that feature, under their own privacy terms:
- Anthropic (Claude) — powers the on-site AI chat assistant and the trip request box in the Plan tab. Messages you send in chat are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. A trip request you type (for example “4 days in Italy, relaxed”) is sent to Anthropic together with the names of the places from videos you have watched or saved, so it can choose among them. We do not keep the text of trip requests.
- Google (Gemini) — used behind the scenes to analyze video content (identifying moments and topics within videos we program); this does not involve your personal data.
- YouTube / Google — video content on Travelnetic is sourced from and played via YouTube.
- Google Analytics — only if you accept the analytics cookie banner (see "Cookies" above). Google processes standard analytics data (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser type, referring site) under its own privacy policy.
- Wikimedia (Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons) — the place photos in the Plan tab are loaded straight from Wikimedia's servers, so Wikimedia receives your IP address and browser details when a photo loads, under its own privacy policy. Each photo has an “i” button with its author, licence and a link to the source. Our server finds photos by searching Wikimedia for a place name and its coordinates only; nothing that identifies you is sent.
- Viator (a Tripadvisor company) — provides the bookable tours shown on Travelnetic. Clicking "Book" takes you to Viator's own site to complete a booking; Travelnetic does not see your payment details.
Data retention
Typed chat questions (stored anonymously, as described above) are deleted automatically after 180 days.
We keep your most recently known IP address, browser/device info, and approximate location for as long as your tn_visitor cookie remains active (up to one year of inactivity). Watch history, saved moments, and trip data persist under the same anonymous identifier until you request deletion or your cookie expires.
Your choices
Because Travelnetic doesn't have accounts, there's currently no self-service page to view or delete your data directly. You can:
- Accept or decline analytics cookies via the banner shown on your first visit. To change your mind later, clear this site's cookies/local storage in your browser (or visit in a private/incognito window) — the banner will ask again.
- Clear your
tn_visitorcookie (via your browser's settings) to disconnect your browser from any history we've stored. - Contact us (below) to request that we manually delete the data associated with your visits. We'll do our best to locate and remove it, though because our identifier is anonymous, we may need your help identifying which records are yours (e.g. an approximate date/time and device you used).
International visitors
Travelnetic is operated from the United States. If you're visiting from the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, California, or another jurisdiction with its own data protection law: the cookie-consent banner described above (analytics cookies off until you accept) is our current mechanism for the EU/UK cookie-consent requirement specifically. We haven't done a full, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction legal basis assessment beyond that, so treat this policy as a good-faith, plain-language description rather than a legal guarantee of compliance in every jurisdiction. You're welcome to contact us with any questions or requests.
Children's privacy
Travelnetic is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Travelnetic changes. We'll update the effective date above when we do. Material changes will be reflected here — please check back periodically.
